Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large bowl, gently combine the ground pork sausage and spicy pork sausage using your hands until just mixed. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatballs tender. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Roll the mixture into meatballs, about 1 tablespoon each. Aim for uniform size to ensure even cooking. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the meatballs in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 15 to 20 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). (20 minutes)

04

Step

Transfer the cooked meatballs to a large bowl. Add half of the thawed orange juice concentrate and gently toss to coat. Add more orange juice concentrate as needed to completely coat each meatball with a glistening glaze. (5 minutes)

05

Step

Place the coated meatballs in a slow cooker. Pour the remaining orange juice concentrate over the meatballs. Set the slow cooker to Low to keep the meatballs warm and allow the glaze to further develop as they simmer until serving. (10 minutes)

For a deeper flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sausage mixture for an extra kick.
These meatballs can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before cooking. Allow them to come to room temperature slightly before frying.
If you prefer a thicker glaze, simmer the remaining orange juice concentrate in a saucepan over medium heat until reduced by half before pouring over the meatballs in the slow cooker.
Serve with toothpicks or small skewers for easy serving.
