For a vegan variation, use a plant-based cream cheese alternative. Experiment with different herbs and spices in the cream cheese filling, such as lemon zest, red pepper flakes, or smoked paprika. If you don't have a pastry bag, you can use a resealable plastic bag with a small corner snipped off.
