Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

Preheat the oven to 390 degrees F (200 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step
3 mins

Lightly salt and pepper the salmon fillet on both sides. Place in a 2-quart baking dish. Squeeze the juice from one lemon half over the salmon, then sprinkle with minced garlic and half of the butter pieces. (3 minutes)

03

Step
15 mins

Bake in the preheated oven until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork, about 15 minutes. (15 minutes)

04

Step
10 mins

Meanwhile, fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a rolling boil. Cook fettuccine at a boil until tender yet firm to the bite, about 8 minutes. Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining. (10 minutes)

05

Step
2 mins

When the salmon is cooked, break it apart into large chunks (it will further break apart when you toss it with the pasta). (2 minutes)

06

Step
5 mins

Add the cooked pasta to the baking dish with the salmon. Drizzle the pasta and salmon with olive oil, and add the remaining butter pieces. Zest the remaining lemon half and add the zest to the pasta, then squeeze the juice from the zested lemon into the pasta as well. Add parsley, salt, and pepper. (5 minutes)

07

Step
3 mins

Toss everything gently until the pasta is well coated in the pan juices and everything you have added in, and the salmon is evenly distributed amongst the pasta. If the pasta seems dry add some of the reserved pasta water. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary. Add a touch more butter or oil if needed, if your pasta is too dry. Serve immediately. (3 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, try browning the butter before adding it to the pasta. Watch carefully to prevent burning!
Feel free to substitute other types of pasta, such as linguine or spaghetti.
A sprinkle of red pepper flakes can add a touch of heat to this dish.
Fresh herbs, such as dill or chives, make a lovely garnish.
