Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large pot, place the diced potatoes and cover with salted water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 10 minutes. Drain the potatoes thoroughly.

02

Step

Prepare the carrots by placing them in a steamer insert set over a saucepan with boiling water (water level should be just below the steamer). Cover and steam until the carrots are softened, approximately 4-6 minutes.

03

Step

Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the flour until a smooth paste forms. Return the pot to the heat and gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.

04

Step

Add the drained potatoes, steamed carrots, corn, cooked salmon, green beans, and peas to the pot. Season with salt, dill, and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Cook and stir until the chowder thickens slightly, around 5 minutes. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer until the green beans are tender, about 5 minutes.

For a richer flavor, consider using heavy cream in place of some of the milk.
Adjust the amount of vegetables and salmon to your preference. Feel free to add other vegetables such as celery or leeks.
If you don't have cooked salmon on hand, you can use canned salmon (drained) or quickly poach a fresh salmon fillet.
A pinch of red pepper flakes can add a pleasant hint of spice.
Fresh dill is a great substitute if you don't have dried dill available. Use about 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh dill.
