Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, thoroughly combine the thawed hash browns, sour cream, shredded Cheddar cheese, cream of celery soup, finely chopped onion, 1/4 cup of the melted butter, white pepper, and cayenne pepper. Ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed. (10 minutes)

03

Step

Transfer the mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly. (2 minutes)

04

Step

In a separate small bowl, combine the crushed corn flakes and crushed cheese-flavored crackers. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the casserole. (3 minutes)

05

Step

Drizzle the remaining 1/4 cup of melted butter evenly over the corn flake and cracker topping. (1 minute)

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven until the casserole is bubbling, golden brown, and cooked through, approximately 1 hour. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean. (60 minutes)

07

Step

Let cool slightly before serving. (10 minutes)

For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder to the hash brown mixture.
To prevent the topping from browning too quickly, loosely tent the baking dish with foil during the last 15-20 minutes of baking.
This casserole can be assembled the day before and stored, covered, in the refrigerator. Add 10-15 minutes to the baking time if baking straight from the refrigerator.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
