Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over high heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned (5-7 minutes).

02

Step

Add the chopped carrots, onion, celery, minced garlic, dried thyme, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender (5-10 minutes). Drain any excess grease, if necessary.

03

Step

Pour in the dry white wine and cook, stirring constantly, until the wine is almost completely evaporated (approximately 5 minutes). This step deglazes the pan and adds depth of flavor.

04

Step

Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato juice, and dried parsley. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered, until the sauce has thickened to your liking (about 20 minutes). Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

05

Step

While the sauce simmers, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a rolling boil. Add the penne pasta and cook, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente (about 11 minutes).

06

Step

Drain the pasta thoroughly and return it to the pot. Add the prepared turkey Bolognese sauce and grated Parmesan cheese. Toss well to combine, ensuring the pasta is evenly coated in the sauce.

07

Step

Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese if desired.

For a richer flavor, consider using a combination of ground turkey and ground Italian sausage.
Feel free to add other vegetables to the sauce, such as diced bell peppers or mushrooms.
If you don't have dry white wine, you can substitute chicken broth or vegetable broth.
Fresh herbs, such as basil or oregano, can be used in place of dried parsley for a brighter flavor.
Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your desired level of spiciness.
For a smoother sauce, use crushed tomatoes instead of tomato sauce.
The sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
